Meadowlands Event Center: It's
all about being here.
There's something about The Meadowlands that
breeds EXCITEMENT. The
kind of excitement that SELLS
OUT every Giants game since they moved here in
1976. That holds the ENERGY
of the J-E-T-S fans who
have filled every seat since 1984.That helps Bruce
Springsteen and the E Street Band break every WORLDWIDE
attendance record and The Pope establish a Giants
Stadium single-day attendance standard that may
never be exceeded. That draws the BIGGEST
purse in harness racing.
Here is a 700-acre entertainment oasis developed
to accommodate virtually any sports or
entertainment event imaginable. Together, the
three Meadowlands facilities - Giants Stadium,
IZOD CENTER and The Meadowlands Racetrack - are
the ultimate destination for more than 6 million
enthusiastic guests a year and the site of
hundreds of major televised events.
Owned and operated by the New Jersey Sports and
Exposition Authority, The Meadowlands provides a
setting for excellence to happen. We don't throw
the passes, play the guitars or score the goals.
We simply make sure everything runs flawlessly so
the stars can come out and shine.

Convention & Visitors Bureau (MLCVB) web site,
a guide to northern
New Jersey tourism
. The Meadowlands Liberty region is made up
of a cluster of towns and municipalities that lie
between the Hudson and Hackensack Rivers, due west
of Midtown Manhattan. The area stretches from the
George Washington Bridge to just south of Jersey
City, NJ where the Statue of Liberty and the
Liberty Science Center are located.
Whether you are looking to experience some of our
thousands of daily thrills, trying a more
civilized and efficient way to visit New York
City, seeking an ideal convention or conference
location, or thinking about where to live in the
metropolitan area; The New Jersey Meadowlands
Liberty Convention & Visitors Bureau is there
to help you gather information on area hotels,
events, and activities, and make the connections
you need for that perfect visit.
The location of the New Jersey Meadowlands in
proximity to the greater New
York City metropolitan area and its outgrowth
into New Jersey makes conservation of the vast
wetland a difficult proposition. In spite of this,
the New
Jersey Legislature, led by Richard
W. DeKorte, created the Hackensack Meadowlands
Development Commission (since renamed New
Jersey Meadowlands Commission) in 1968 to
attempt to address both economic and environmental
issues concerning the wetland region. Even under
grave environmental circumstances, the Meadowlands
contain many species of fish,
crustaceans,
and mollusks
and is considered to be an important bird
habitat.
Congressman Steve
Rothman has secured millions of dollars from
the United
States Congress to protect and preserve the
Meadowlands and establish organizations to
research the unique animals and their interaction
with the ecosystem. The ecosystem is a very
fragile environment that waterfowl along with many
other species of animals depend on to survive.
